1.21.13: DIY Custom T shirts! YSL, Comme des Fuckdown, etc...
Today I'm going to share with you guys a quick easy way to make custom T shirts! I made a Comme des Fuckdown tee and also a YSL logo tee, but the possibilities are endless!
You'll need:
- A design (from the internet or whatever you wish)
- Freezer paper (any local grocery store)
- Exacto knife
- A hard, durable surface
- Magazines/newspapers
- Iron
- A t-shirt
- Fabric paint, acrylic paint, or fabric spray
First off, print off your design. I recommend going for a simple design because you'll need to hand-cut out all the pieces! It took me hours to cut the stencil for the Comme des Fuckdown design.
Lay down a sheet of freezer paper (wax side down) and your stencil on top. Tape down the sides so that thy don't move around when cutting!
Start to cut out the negatives with your exacto knife.
When you finish, make sure to save the "inner pieces"!
And be careful with where you cut! I used an old table in my backyard. You don't want to accidentally cut into you're beautiful wood table! This happened to my work place haha.
Position the stencil on your shirt and iron down. Make sure that there are no bubbles and that it's completely flat on your shirt. Don't forget about ironing the inner pieces!
Put a piece of newspaper, cardboard, or an old magazine in between the layers of your shirt.
Now if you're using acrylic or fabric paint, use a sponge brush and stipple the color into the stencil. Let dry completely before handling.
If you're using fabric spray paint, go outside and use a light hand. Try not to over kill it, incase it soaks through. I used this metallic spray since I couldn't find any paint!
When you start to peel the stencil off, it should look like this.
And wal-lah!

Good luck and have fun! xx

Lovely. I must try this.
